Jewelry! adorn every sort of everyday & one time use items - You looked at the amount of gold plated plumbing these days? A friend in "the business" speaks often of the large amount of gold & silver plated casket hardware being sold these days. There is still a rather brisk demand for gold in electronics. The list goes on & on. I believe if not the worst, then the best will drive the demand change.

(below, Ron Reece's thoughts) At its heart, ANY FINANCIAL SYSTEM IS NOTHING MORE THAN A CONFIDENCE GAME. So long as people believe their money is worth something, they will continue to use it. It really doesn't matter whether that money is backed by gold or merely the full faith and credit (FF&C) of an entire nation. What matters is the perception that people hold in a currency and the willingness to accept its use in day to day business transactions. That's why I think Goldbugs are so self-defeating.
