"Talisman has gotten a foothold in Sudan early on in the development of that region, and its upside from further exploration is very meaningful. I wouldn't be surprised to see the company's oil production there double over the next three years, to about 70,000 net barrels per day."

Sudan/Malaysia/Petroleum
Khartoum, May 24 (SUNA)- Energy and Mining Minister Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz met at his office here Tuesday a delegation of the Malaysian Petronas Company, headed by the Vice President of the Company, Abdul-Rahim Hashim.

The meeting discussed ways of promoting work in the Sudanese petroleum project in Hegliej fields, Blocs 1, 2 and 4. The meeting affirmed that work is satisfactorily progressing in accordance with the programme being agreed upon.

The Vice President of Petronas Company stressed the cooperation of the Malaysian government and the joint efforts for boosting work in the Sudanese petroleum project, pointing out that all capabilities necessary for development of the oil industry in Sudan are available.

On his part, the Minister expressed thanks and appreciations over the great concern accorded by the Malaysian leadership to the company's investments in Sudan, explaining that cooperation between Petronas Company and the Energy and Mining Ministry has extended to cover fields of training of cadres and exchange of expertise.
