Curious why you think Phil will not win. I am a friend of his from his high school days in San Diego when he used to practice at my home course, Carlton Oaks when I lived there. My two year old son is named after him. Anyhow, he's driving straighter this year, which has been his biggest obstacle in the past, last year runner-up finish at Pinehurst. I personally think that his is more than capable of winning at Pebble this year. Remember, he's won more on the West Coast than anywhere else, there is a distinct difference in how West Coast courses play.

Thanks
Jim

Thanks

Random Thoughts part 47

Anyone here play Adams Tight Lies fairway woods? I can't hit em.

How does Notah Begay hit the ball? What is up with that swing. It scares me to watch him, but the results are good. I just don't get it.

Don't you think that 90% of the high handicap players would benefit if they just shorten their backswing 5-10%?

What does everyone think of Valhara (spelling?)? I think its a really nice course and I am looking forward to the PGA being there this year. I think Jack was thinking Masters when he designed it.

How about Jean Van De Veld? The guy can really play. Hope he shows well at the Open this year.

I have watched Jesper and I just don't get how he hits his irons so far. Its a quick swing and it looks effortless, but how does he do it?

I understand that Sergio only takes instruction from his dad. Is this true? It would seem that it would limit his growth. That swing of his sure can suffer if his timing is off a little bit. He must have the latest release of any player out there.

So my dad looks like a cross between the young Jack and the old other Jack (Nickelson). I don't look anything like either one of them, which makes me think the mailman spent his lunch hour on my block.

I feel like Andy Rooney, and I am not sure that is a good thing, so I will stop now.

Have a good one.
