How will you distinguish the appearance of an explosive bull move from a sucker rally?

I don't know. But I think most of the bears on SI and on CNBC are not real bears, but rather, closet market-timers. If you are a real bear, you should be short in anticipation of a multi-year correction a la Nikkei, or you should get out of financials and into other asset categories. That is a bear I can respect. People sitting on the side pulling a Hamlet ("to bear or not to bear") only to hop on the train when they think they see it leaving the station will lose money in the aggregate. That is the one certainty.

Carissimo Todtman. PLEASE don't call this a BEAR MARKET.

Technically, and factually, this is incorrect.

THIS is A CORRECTION in a BULL MARKET.

-------------

For the record, ( and for the sake of various hungry bears
looking for cheap stock scraps rummaging though garbage
piles in Wall Street Park ),

BEAR MARKETS are characterized
by the following events, which are NOT present now:

- High inflation, deflation ot stagflation ol'Jimmy
Carter ).
- High unemployment.
- Low earnings
- dead GDP
-National " malaise " a la Jimmy the Carter vbg

WE instead HAVE

NO inflation
HIGH employment
HIGH earnings
ROCKETING GDP

Greenie is looking for a soft landing and he'll get it.

I think the BULL HAS SOFTLY LANDED TOO vbg.
That's why nobody is screaming or panicking.

Q :" How will you distinguish the appearance of an
explosive bull move from a sucker rally?

A : You look for high volume on a breakout,
carried over 4 - 5 days,

ciao

I agree completely that a rebound will be explosive.
However, bear markets too are always characterised by one or more very explosive counter-trend rallies.

These rallies are like great vacuum cleaners seeking your and my sidelines cash. When they end, the downward grinding begins again and people are left stunned. Astounded. Hopes dashed.

How will you distinguish the appearance of an explosive bull move from a sucker rally?

Ciao,
David Todtman

David Todtman -----

You ask: how will I distinguish between the appearance of an explosive bull move from a sucker rally?

Why, in hindsight, of course! :)>
