Even if a sailboat tipped over, it would right itself immediately - like the rubber duckies in the bath tub. You don't read about sailboats going down in Southern California but you do read about power boats catching on fire and sinking - or losing their engines, getting swamped and sinking. Even if your engine quits on a sailboat, you always have the sails to keep you moving.
