James,
I find it strange that the Catholics approved it when it did not indicate any divinity toward the Virgin Mary, and made no mention of Peter being the rock on which the church was to be built. I think that part came after the resurrection but, it must have been a bit of a disappointment to them.

From what I say, the movie stayed fairly closely to the words of the Bible but, I think some were totally surprised about the attire of satan but, there is no physical description of satan in the Bible anyway. There were some gaps in time but, that would have been necessary to keep the movie from becoming a series. I was slightly disappointed that they didn't show Peter cutting off that guy's ear, and Judas hanging himself but, that doesn't sound very Christian, does it??

You know, it's funny, I had mentioned to someone when the movie was on that some of the women were dressed like Catholic Nuns. And that the people who made the movie were probably aware that this would appeal to Catholic viewers and get better ratings for the movie, since there is a large number of Catholics in America.
