It's bad enough we have to do sylogism-101 lectures around here; now we have to explain the difference between explanation and advocacy!

This clip from X, for example, is an explanation:

<<He was illegal when he was fished out
of the water and brought here- he was "paroled" as are all Cubans
who get to US soil- PAROLED because they are illegal (under the wet
foot/dry foot rules) and as SOON as the parole was revoked he
became illegal again- that is simply the law.>>

The entire post, Message 13772444, is an explanation. Explanations are just information. They're intended to improve understanding. That's all. If I say that 6 million people were killed during the Holocaust, that doesn't make me a Nazi. I'm merely conveying information.

Now, if you see someone advocating something racist, by all means point it out. I'm sure that you will get a lot of support from this thread.

Meanwhile, if you disapprove of what's going on in the Elian affair and want to change laws and practices, you have to first understand the status quo, otherwise you have no footing to advocate change. When someone provides clear explanations of something I don't understand, my natural response is to say "thank you." You might want to consider it.
