Yesterday I produced a song for a guy for his wife's 40th birthday. He was very nervous--though he's a leading figure in the advertising industry he's NOT a singer.

His initial emotion was insecurity. As I worked with him, calmed him, and reassured him, he became more confident. His confident takes were remarkably better than his insecure ones. His emotional state reverberated into his performance, though he sang the same words every time. It all began on the inside, and manifested externally.

This "hate is not a bad emotion" is a remarkable perspective you hold. I simply can't relate to that kind of thinking. I don't hate things or people. I don't like holding that emotion, because it would not serve me well, nor those around me. Hatred is based in fear, and lack of understanding, and I refuse to be governed by fear, and am skilled enough (I believe) to bridge any misunderstanding given a willing participant on the other side of the breach.

We are here, in large part, to love and grow in our understanding of one another (and consequently our understanding of ourselves). Hatred is antithetical to this mission--my mission.
