When shorts attack.....

Lot of activity on this board.. I have to admit that shorts are doing well. Do we have a particularly brilliant group of shorts? I don't think so. XYBR is down from its high of 30. It's also up from its low of 1. Most of the shorts in XYBR entered around 14. Most of the long termers here bought long around 1 -2, some in the 5's. It's all a matter of timing. I think many who bought in the high 20's have panicked and sold already. I agree with Stan that long term, XYBR will do well. It certainly could go down with the market as will most other techs, e.g. MWAV, ISLD.

From here I think we'll see 12-16 before we see 4-5, but I may be wrong. I think we're close to a near term bottom in the market. If the market turns and the interest rate scenario gets fixed the timing should be just around the time that XYBR gets NASDAQ listing. At that point, institutions will be looking for new plays and I think XYBR will be one that at least a few will follow as a speculative buy. Getting one real analyst to follow this company would totally decimate the shorts and they know it. That's why they attack. That professional basher may play with the numbers but the reality is there is a high short interest both in terms of numbers of shares and numbers of bashers, very bullish signs, particularly with this group of shorties. So get out the repellent and give it to them.

Anyone can come here and try to scare up some shares. It's a little less obvious here than on Yahoo but that's the tactic. That's the reason for the activity. Have you seen any real convincing arguments on the short side?

So lets summarize

-The king guru is off to jail, the guy who attacks XYBR for a living returns after successfully exposing a charitable scam. I guess that gives him some credibility here.

-Another poster arrives after a long hiatus and says boldly it's going to 5 or 6. I suggest to him that XYBR looks like most other stocks, e.g. MWAV, ISLD. There are very few that have survived this bear market on the long side. (One that has is the very high tech donut purveyor KREM, which this group shorted -- top short -- Krap short - short to 0 -- at a price of 37. Don't bother looking but since the short call, KREM is almost straight up. So much for credibility. They still say they are 100-110% right. It's incredible.)

It's all very entertaining. I've placed my shares in the CASH account so perhaps someone has not been able to borrow my shares to short. I think I'll go back and check out the gurus fighting boards. I hope you all are reading them. It's ironic that in the greatest bear market in 15 years, the real gurus of shortdom are at each others' throats. "What goes around comes around."
