Glenn, you are very nice and polite. But I'll bet money that the boys from the new economy
thread were helping with that squeeze. If that is done in any other social activity, you'd find it
disgusting.

Sarmad,

You have me in a bind on what to say here. There is no doubt that the longs would pile on more using margin or whatever when a short squeeze was in progress. The few people I met here meaning on this thread, are good people in my mind. I am sure many were aware of the squeeze and took advantage of it to turn a large profit. The people in this group though were trying to tell us and this is a quote from Mark at various times "go long the stock is going up." It was not even I believe it is going up. It was the stock is going up. I really doubt Mark or any of the people I met here were hoping for my demise. I do not believe they suggested I cover and go long just to help make the stock go up further. It is my feeling these are very nice people that understood this game better than I and were willing to share their knowledge. It was fine with them if I made money too.

As much as the losses hurt, I cannot hold that against them. I would feel differently if this group egged me on to remain short.

Do you feel they should have not taken the long position when in fact they knew the stock would move up? Were these specific people here out to get us that were not long or were they riding the momentum to make money?

What I do not want to do is try and defend two ends of a position. The longs were very nice to me even when i was short and through many PMs gave me advice that would have served me well had I listened.

Now maybe there are a large group of people Iming all the time and planning short squeezes. It is my opinion the group here was not doing that but they could see a short squeeze developing. I can't dislike someone just because they understood something better than I. I can dweel on my mistakes or the momentum of the market. I can hate the brokerage firms, the insiders, the analysts, etc. but the people buying these stocks I cannot hate them for just buying them.

I have to eat dinner be back later.

glenn

From The Street Life:

"NO REST FOR THE WEARY.... Even though the NASDAQ index
didn't really budge Friday, the pain in the small,
hardest-hit names continued to take its toll. Dr. Koop.com,
whose hapless track record I just wrote about in Fortune
(/fortune/2000/05/29/drk.html), has fallen 50% in just the
past two weeks. It now stands at $1 1/4. Other dubious
dot-coms? How about Value America at $1 5/8, MotherNature.com
at $1 19/32, or Egreetings Network at $2 3/8? And don't
forget Beyond.com at $1 9/16 or Salon.com at $2 3/4. Can you
believe it's gotten this bad, this fast?"

Does anyone know how much money Dr. Koop made on his portal?
