I think it is fairly clear, at least to those of us on this thread, that the major cause of many of the outrageous acts we hear about are caused by a shift in our societal mores. It is 'fashionable' for mothers to work and raise children without two parents in the home, and essentially let the little urchens grow up without any real sense of values. I don't know how young children view the topic of abortion, but I can imagine how the vocal and omnipresent support of "a woman's right to choose" could be interpreted by them as a devaluing of life in general. I understand the gratifying feeling of revenge that talk of slow and painful deaths and/or Islamic punishments can cause. But, I also doubt that any of us would really like such punishments to be actually carried out in America. I'm wholly in favor of the death penality, but the way it turns out, a condemned person is executed because his last appeal failed, not because of some heinous deed committed a decade ago. I'd like to see a more direct relationship between the crime and the punishment. BWDIK. You know what they say about opinions... <g> jim
