In January, there was a bunch of discussion about the best ways to hedge a portfolio. One of the alternatives was USPIX, the Ultra short OTC fund from ProFunds.

Its objective is to be 2x the Nasdaq 100 on the short side. The prospectus also say that they attempt to match the objective within 90% over the course of a year.

But in reviewing its performance, it looks like it is far short of its goal. It is up only a few percent since mid January when it should be up 35%. It seemed to be tracking reasonably well through mid April but since then has not "inversely" followed the Nasdaq very well.

Does anyone have thoughts about why it seems to be missing its goals substantially?
