Ooooo-ooooo. I need an Aeolian harp pattern, or two. My aeolian harp story: you know I collect cookbooks, but I don't think I ever told you how the collection began. My great-grandmother had a cookbook, and I have no idea what the name was, or anything about its provenance, all I know is that it had two main sections, with subsections, the first main section being recipes, and the subsections much like any other cookbook, meats, breads, desserts, and so on. The second section was, as far as I can tell, unique, or never to be replicated during my searches, it had practical advice for housewives, but the only things I remember now was a "recipe" for making a concoction to paint on your windows to make them look as if they had frost, as a decoration - using either gum arabic or gum tragacanth, can't recall. The other "recipe" was how to make an Aeolian harp. My grandmother gave it to my mother, and my mother let me borrow it to take it to class and show my art class - I was going to LSU at the time so it was about 25 years ago - and I put my pile of books and notebooks on a shelf in the restroom while I used the facility, and when I came out, the book was gone. None of the rest of the books were gone. At first I thought I had dropped it, and retraced my steps looking for it, and left messages at all the lost and founds, but upon reflection, I think someone stole it. Probably either someone in my art class, who was intrigued by what I showed them, or a bibliophile, as I was using the restroom in the library. I have tried and tried for years to find another copy, but am hampered by the fact that I don't know the name or anything else about the book. It may have been "Practical Receipts for Housewives," or that may be the name of another book I've seen. I want that book!!!!! But an aeolian harp "recipe" will do, for now.
