Could it be that DDR is more expensive that RDRAM <ggg>? From our friends on Yahoo:

So not only DDR is unstable vaporware since still no DDR PCs, but now we know that DDR is expensive. Ouch.

go here: commerce.us.dell.com der_code=500521q

Then select the upgrade to 64Mb DDR from 32Mb for $240. That's $240 extra for 32Mb of DDR or $960 for 128Mb.

A 128Mb PC800 RDRAM costs $400 or less than half that. And that's the ECC version. Non-ECC is $350. And RDRAM PCs are stable fast and real while DDR PCs are expensive unstable and still vaporware. And RDRAM prices continue to drop at a 14% pace a month. Just wait till Willy, 400Mhz and dual channel hits the streets. Willy with SSE is 10x faster than anything out there. All software will require Willy, Intel SSE instructions, and Intel CPUs. AMD is dead.

You know, I like to think these guys are being honest and are just wrong, but gimme a break - "We are looking at about a 3% cost addition over PC133 for DDR266 once it comes into production. And this is in comparison to 300-500% premium for Rambus"

First, as to the "cost addition" of DDR being only 3% "once it comes into production." Right! It will cost a lot more than PC133, or else why would anyone buy PC133. Second, RDRAM is not costing the boxmakers a 300%-500% premium, and he knows it.

Makes him sound as biased as Tom.
