Thanks for the Brinker info... No, I haven't followed him actually. I've been cash since march (but following closely to remain current) and will likely wait to commit any funds until the COMPX has formed a rounding bottom and when average daily volume is frustratingly low. It will likely take another 6 weeks + for this to occur in my opinion. I will then be looking for a rally mode in the beginning of September as I indicated a few months ago. I am not concerned with catching the absolute bottom as I will likely be going long(er) with my purchases.

Which brings us to a debate that is as strong as ever: Bull vs. Bear longterm and appropriate valuations therein. I have spoken to a lot of people lately about the market and there is a defining difference between what I've observed to be two types of bulls.

On the one hand... you have bulls who think the bubble that recently burst won't come back... but that longterm... solid companies like CSCO for instance will continue upwards.

I am not a member of that camp. I, on the other hand, believe speculation will return to the markets in full force once this recent correction is 'forgotten'. Valuations will soar again. It might take awhile however and the companies that run may very well be of an entirely new breed. Maybe this is just wishful thinking because I want to make a lot of money in the next 12-18 months, but maybe not.

What's occurred to me in following this market for a brief three years is that things occur in waves. I do not think that the wave that happened from October-March will be the one and only. I foresee at least two more of these, spread out over at least a year's time-frame. I would describe the recent Nasdaq action as 'consolidation' in preparation for another one of these 'waves'.

Inning 3: that would be my chronological estimation as to how far the technological revolution has come so far. We've got quite a ways to go.

Just my opinion and for the record, I've never experienced a bear market. So who knows...

Rande: As a reminder... note the move on Friday in SONE. I brought this company to you months ago when you first discovered SVNX. Keep an eye on these 'full-service financial integration' companies... I think they'll get runup during the next bull phase. TEKC is a cheaper version of the same. Biometrics too... ESAF is one of my favorites in that arena. One other thing... an otc stock that I've been following for over 2 years and since 25cents recently got an AMEX listing. You dismissed it quickly Rande in April of '99 when we first spoke because it hails from Houston... perceived to be a scammy city. New ticker is CLW... check it out... installs fiber-to-the-home for bundled digital services. If you like that, look up VNTK.OB which is similar, yet more diversified.

Cheers,
Dave

Redwood,

No disrespect intended by a 1st time poster, but isn't telling people to go all cash in January just a little bit off the mark? Market didn't top till mid-March, I think about 25% higher than that? If he had called it in late Feb. or early March, I would be more impressed. Just my thoughts.

In all fairness, I don't know of Bob Brinker and don't know of other calls he made.
