B&N.com actually uses messengers to deliver most orders in New York City. It is not uncommon for books ordered on Tuesday to arrive Wednesday morning.

When a book is shipped within 24 hours, it means that B&N has stock in its warehouse. 2-3 days means that the book is currently available from a major distributor (usually, but not always, Ingram). 3-5 weeks means Amazon is ordering directly from the publisher.

Buy.com takes forever to deliver books because it carries so little in stock, itself.

MB, Earlie and any other bears- if you are mostly out of equities, what do you have your cash positions in?

Generally are you guys in T-bills, Money Markets, High grade Corporate Bonds/Funds, CEF's or something else?

TIA,
Bill
