Sounds like a tall order. Almost as hubristic (is that a word?) as when Clinton said "...and we must reverse the tide of global warming" the other day. I wonder how he intends to do that, especially if solar variablity is found to be the cause.

I'm trying to remember, did the US support Fujimori or Vargas Llosa in 1990? Probably Fujimori, more certainty there. The elites in Peru supported Vargas Llosa and the masses supported Fujimori, if I recall correctly.

State Dept meddling can be such a bleak thing to think about. I like to think what might have been if Vargas Llosa had prevailed in 1990...a libertarian novelist as president of a country - wow!
