The Bible is nothing if not inconsistent. I think you could justify ANYTHING with the Bible. I've read it several times- it's a kick, I don't mind reading it- but people believing in it their whole heart and dispensing with reason scare me. But I can say that about people who believe in ANYTHING like that- because those people ARE dangerous. Fundamentalism of any kind is dangerous to the non-fundamentalist- and to everyone else (as episode after historical episode show us). If things suddenly change and fundamentalists become harmless I will recognize that fact- because my philosophy is set up to take account of change.
