Also on 70 radio stations nation wide.

if you look at the competition, they all seem to be avoiding each other until they hit a certain market saturation. i am in the bay area, they get better with each delivery (use every 4 weeks or so). the drivers talk about density buildup (a green house icon appears when they will be in your neighborhood now), they have gone to palm devices for the drivers. their warehouse is supposedly an automation marvel. they have added products to leverage the delivery system. a lot to like except for the amount of capital to start (which is also a barrier to entry).

ever ask a parent of small children about grocery shopping? the idea of delivered groceries is a big pull for them.

oh, and the meat & veggies are great.

Goldman Sachs just did a study of their cash position and concluded that WebVan can make it without going back to the market for a while (mid '01). They have over $500mm and can continue to roll out their first 5 cities aggressively and get the SF Bay Area cash flow positive. At some point, they can probably charge a nominal delivery fee to increase their financial position. I doubt an extra $5 fee will turn off their core customer base. Maybe the cheapies but I doubt they will ever make any money off the guy who orders only orders $50 worth anyway. check out the party platters. good if you are watching the NBA finals with some buddies and you are sick of pizza.
