You are correct that Nortel is the gorilla in optics and that's why I bought Nortel last year. However, you are incorrect that this automatically means Cisco is toast. Cisco's product line is very broad and getting broader in markets that have phenomenal growth potential. Cisco will do just fine with the markets they have now and eventually they will close the lead on Nortel in optics (though this may take the next 5 years or more).
