Chuck et. al.

IMHO, all AMD needs on the launch is 1.1 Gigahertz and some benchmarks showing the superior performance of the on die cache.
Repeatedly here and other venues all we hear is Willy this and Willy that. I swear, I even talked to a guy who claimed he knew a guy who already had a computer with a Willy in it running 1.5 Ghz.
Facts are this...
1. Athlon is here at 1 ghz in reasonable quantity.
2. Athlon II (T-bird) with 256k L2 on die will be announced next week WITH product to ship. My guess is at least 1.1 Ghz.
3. Duron will follow
4. There are chipsets that work, 750 and KT-133.
5. Willy is not here, you cannot buy a Willy.
6. Willy hasn't even had a stealth release.
7. The Willy chipset is not available.
8. There are no Willy motherboards available.
9. The Willy chipset is being reworked to run DDR...
10. Willy doesn't run at 1.5 Gigahertz because there are
no Willys. Except in the lab.
11. So why are people comparing a chip that exists with one you can't even buy?
