That (W2k improved security model) may be true, but it's going to take a year for MS to prove it. They don't exactly default to 'okay, we'll believe you this time'. --- That 'if the site is programmed correctly' sure sounds familiar. You're talking about guys that welded the active-x browser into the OS though. M$'s reputation preceeds them. -JCJ

If "the site is programmed correctly" it'll be using Unix, so your point is a tautology. <g>

Not true. Both Win2000 and Sun Servers can be hacked. Additionally, it is mostly the "programming" of the web-sites, that gives vulnerabilities, so the qualities of the server OS is defined by:

- Help in doing quality control of the programming
- Transparency in how things work

There is no doubt, that *nix has the best transparency, but on quality control it can be discussed which OS helps the most. Windows 2000 would typically store data in a database, whereas many *nix sites could store data in log files. This makes those specific *nix sites very vulnerable, once the intruder gets in, whereas the Windows 2000 intruder still has to crack the database system.

It depends heavily on the tools you use, the ActiveX components you use etc., which system is most secure. Especially the ActiveX components in Windows are typically very non-secure.
