Thanks, American Spirit. You've brought the last mile to new heights. Airborne craft is one place to which fiber wont creep ;-)

FAC

ps - save for some fiber optic guided missiles (FOG-M), those things that homed a lot of what we are now using in the streets, earlier on.

Yes, Am-Spirit, you've brought to the thread yet another twist on the attack of the wireless guys. I recall hearing about this one from the Boeing CEO last month on CNBC. It was like he had this brilliant idea of how to create value for his suffering shareholders. IMHO, no big whoop.

Seems that everyone wants a piece of the digital economy. First the telcos (duh, obviously), then the MSOs, then the satellite birdies, next the electric, oil & gas utilities, then "going-mobile" guys, and now those magnificent men who build those flying machines.

The question I ask, with an inclination of looking forward, is when can we expect to see some consolidation across different platforms? Will Montana Power always remain independent? When will BEL/GTE following the merger make a run for an MSO to expand its footprint beyond incumbent areas? Will Williams & SBC ever tie the knot? How long will GMH's DirecTV remain an "independent" provider & broadcast & Internet content?

Any thoughts, guys (& gals)?
