Re: "it's not by the illegal M$-style extortion the industry had come to accept"

If u want to write software to run on an MS system, u can do so without buying any MS software, signing any MS agreement or even ever using the words "Microsoft" or "Windows". U make no payment whatsoever to MS, their role in the deal is to supply you with a popular set of OS's to give you a large customer base. Where is the extortion here?

Then again what is hip? ...setting off that staccato east bay grease bass line in my head. Now I'll never get to sleep <g>. --- The bottom line, no help from the Tower of Power horn section, is that SOMEWHERE along the line, the innovator (particularly one answering to shareholders) needs to retain IP at some level. --- "Branding" is the most progressive (IMO). --- You use Linux, you get the stupid penguin logo and a Finnish midget dictating the CORE helter skelter at his whim under this horribly restrictive license (GPL), but I digress. --- That's it. I just wanted to say "Finnish midget dictator" and "but, I digress". :) -JCJ
