Wat Youth,

Mine was a SERIOUS question without regard to AMD. I am long both Intel and AMD. A CPU slowdown will hurt Intel as well as AMD. AMD could realize some huge gains if they can even marginally penetrate the corporate desktop and server business. (all at the expense of Intel)

For a "SERIOUS question without regard to AMD", you sure mentioned AMD a lot in your response. But I'm sure you are agnostic regarding AMD v. Intel, right?

Quite frankly, I have been disappointed at Intel's inability to even break even on any of these other new business initiatives. I would like to see each new business clearly differentiated in the quarterly earnings report. I think they won't/don't do this now because they mostly all lose money.

First you say you are disappointed at Intel's ability to break even on any of the new businesses, then you say they mostly lose money. Since you contradict yourself, I take it you don't know what you are talking about?

From a $2Billion base, Intel is growing revenues in their new businesses at a 50% annual clip. That takes investment. If you don't agree that Intel profits should be invested in growing new businesses, sell your stock. I'm sure there a few people on this thread that will buy it from you.

Does AMD have a good future, I would say yes. Does Intel, yes. Two good companies with good people trying to make money for their stockholders. If you don't like the practices of either one, vote with your feet.

BTW, did AMD break out the comm. earnings?
