By far the biggest factor in the improving life expectancy figures this century was the adoption of sanitary systems in water and sewage supply and treatment.

Don't you also start weeding out the smokers and heavy drinkers from the sample by the time the sample age gets to 60-65?

But clearly the biggest factor in life expectancy going from say 50 to 75 is reduction in infant [or child] mortality right? I'm not surprised that the mortality tables showing this, but any idea on that increase?? Just curious.
