GoldBug prospects:

<Mind you, their lives would not improve, their new found wealth would not provide a mobility to a better life
style. They would only have the satisfaction of knowing that their wealth was intact.>

Sounds exactly like a spiritual argument against the current economic prosperity. Interesting, caught my eye.

<<Amid the chaos of economic dislocation, the gold bug would have their moment of satisfaction and the chorus of "I told you so" would cascade over the devastated landscape.>>

Ken. Worse than that, as in the past, the gold bugs would probably somehow end up getting the blame for the whole fiasco :@).

interesting that you should mention such a scenario. It is already in the books as far as i can make out. Just as the US gov't begins the breakup of the most successful company the world has ever known at the probable or close to top of the stock market and when it least matters as the technology is moot, the government will try to take away gold from the masses when it is most valuable at its peak. The tricky part will be to get out before they try to take it away. Holders of Microsoft had plenty of warning and i believe holders of PM will also. When gold is making front page news on a regular basis it will be time to unload, imo. It is not a question of if but a question of when.
