re: "According to AMD's website, Dresden is smaller that Fab25 in Austin"

Elmer, thanks for pointing that out. I'd be really worried if I were and AMD investor. The new fab when it peaks out will support 5000 8" wafers per week vs the 6000 in Austin. According to AMD's own web site "AMD announced the Fab 30 project in December 1995, and ground breaking occurred ten months later. Over all, AMD's investment in Dresden totals approximately US$1.9 billion." and it's still not ramped! They will need at least $2B for another fab and a bunch more cash to retro these fabs for the next technology and the next wafer size.
