Over,

Akamai is going to solve any problems @Home would have if say 20 million customers want to watch the same content at the same time.

How's Akamai going to unclog the local loop?

OS,

"Akamai is going to solve any problems @Home would have if say 20 million customers want to watch the same content at the same time."

I'm sure the folks at Home will be thrilled to hear that, for several reasons. But as things stand today, it's a lot of hooey. Home has caching, and they have a very fat, large backbone structure. I'm not suggesting that the backbone shouldn't be optimized at all times, which is more in line with AKAM's strengths, but their real problem is in places where AKAM doesn't go: The Local Loop.
