Heinz, to be fair to the EU, its budget is not equivalent to a national budget. There is no defense and other national services which are taken care of by the individual countries' budgets. And the agricultural subsidy problem has already been addressed -- although very late, I agree; most subsidies will expire in the next few years.

Heinz, I agree with you that subsidies in many cases are
abused and don't make sound econmic sense, they are usually
politically motivated in nature.

I'm sure Milton Friedman would not be for them.....have you
read any Friedman?
