Well, not to brag, but- no- I am bragging-- my boys have extraordinary manners. Which is why I was standing there waiting. They open car doors and pull out chairs for me and walk on the outside of the sidewalk. I take no credit. Their father is the Ultimate Gentleman. (Well, you met him, so you know) When Dan was a new associate, just out of law school, he was assisting a female partner on a case and as they were leaving for court, he started to take her heavy briefcase from her. She growled and jerked it back, spitting out that she could carry her own damn briefcase. She was the first female partner in this Dallas firm, and my guess is she didn't get there letting men carry anything.
