No- the movie is a fantastic look at life in a very different time. It was about family, and choices, and love and art. It was a wonderful thoughtful and very beautiful movie. But Mr. X couldn't get past the castration part- so perhaps it is much more disturbing for men. That's why I thought of it when you mentioned testimony.
