Karen,

I am no big fan of politicians anywhere and as such I do not often find myself defending them on grounds of partisanry. What I object to in the Gore vs tenant story is that the landlord is automatically painted as a slumlord while the tenants are almost always "the poor victims".

Moments ago my father called me to advise me of a problem in one of my apartments. My father had removed the toilet bowl because it was clogged. It seems that the tenant flushed a bone the size of a baseball down the bowl. Now one would presume that at the dawn of the 21st century people would have enough common sense to know what belongs in the toilet bowl and what belongs in the trash can.

I wonder what Ms. Mayberry thinks about the Elian situation.

Obviously she would hesitate to flush the kid back to a communist dictatorship after her experiences on the throne.

Perphaps she will go on the talk show circuit with Donato and they can compare notes.

I wonder how many "Gore Gals" are tucked away in slums across Tennessee.
