. Now one would presume that at the dawn of the 21st century people would have enough common sense to know what belongs in the toilet bowl and what belongs in the trash can. In the early seventies, I lived in a fabulous high-rise. The apartments were all split level with huge, multi-story windows and balconies overlooking the Iwo Jima Memorial and a panorama of Washington. About half the tenants were embassy people. The elevators were full of notices for scalped Redskins tickets at outrageous prices. Very chi-chi. I recall we always had a lot of plumbing problems in the building. Once I was chatting up the super and he told me that just that day a woman tried to flush a whole head of cabbage down the toilet. He had quite a string of horror stories. Amazing!
