I wonder what's going on in the digital cinema arena.

The skinny as I have heard it is that the screen owners are very reluctant to spend the money to upgrade their theaters and are loathe to have the studios pay for the upgrades because of bad blood. The theater owners feel that if they let the studios buy the projectors, the studios will gain greater control over what is shown.

The theater owners seem willing to ignore the economics and the quality issues in order to retain power. I doubt that we will be hearing much about digital cinema in the near future.
