Diamond,

The tax courts have ruled that short puts and long calls (or LEAPS) are not considered like securities and thus they are NOT bound by the 30-day wash rule.

Cheers,
Ibexx

TA tidbit on QCOM: DiamondMan, tough call

QCOM's recovery so far is looking symmetric
this is critically important
currently we saw QCOM price push over 75-76
so the bullish triangle topped by 75-76 is broken
if we see a minor pullback at 90, then symmetric scenario is fortified

symmetry would dictate selling when we return to 105, but that is aggressive
it would dictate hot knife thru mouseturds up to 105
the only obstacles are Moving Avgs located at 92 and 100

I would look to lighten up over 90, or aggressively over 100
we are likely to play "units of 10" games on way back up
translation: every mark of 80, 90, 100, we react and see some selling

your 30 day vacation might do well over August timeframe
I expect a post-earnings selloff during early/mid August
this coincides with the annual tech swoon for final summer vacations
