Better yet, what makes anyone thing the government has a clue about how to break-up and strategically manage a software company.

They can't even track their emails!

And where would computers be today if Micro never existed?
They would be running software from the other companies. Digital Research, Borland, IBM, Armadillo, Crystalware, and a hundred other companies that don't exist, but would have.

Another crucial point, PCs also would have been able to run many usefull progams unattended, instead of tying the user to the screen by the mouse tail.
