Kevin, higher gas prices will make the new hybrids more attractive. There's nothing like a little price pressure to put new focus on these technologies. I heard a couple of weeks ago that the dealership had to knock 5K off the price of their Navigators to get them to move out the door.

I hope that view is incorrect, Kevin. For all our sakes. . .fuel prices have been seasonal. . .so everyone averages costs out over the year to compensate. . . but if we don't drop after Labor Day. . .THAT could cause serious inflation.

I have waited about 25 years to buy a hybrid diesel/electric car [I almost commissioned one to be made about 10 years ago]. There was a company in California that made a few of these at one time. . . it is a great concept. . . though it should have been developed in the 50's. . . and we should be off into things like fuel cells, etc. by now. . . [thanks to fuel companies the internal combustion engine is now nearly 110 years old and still the king of transportation]. . .

The idea that fuel prices may be rising to keep profits high as car manufacturers build alternative vehicles. . .sends a chill up the spine.

OT> I don't know how anyone uses phone modems for internet access. . . it is so slow it hardly works at all. Sometimes I think that sitting on the roof and using smoke signals would be faster.
