Just take a look at what these suckers can do, all on a floppy.

To add an additional point concerning digital cameras and camcorders, etc...

I think that it's worth considering that quite a few of the cameras that I've looked at seem to come with one of the dumbed-down versions of software like PhotoDeluxe or Photoshop. With that kind of software, it makes it possible to do all kinds of "adjustment" or modification to photos... things like cropping, editing out unwanted objects like hydro wires in the air around buildings, adjusting out "red eyes", etc... They can also be used to sharpen photos, while reducing their "file size" so that they don't take long to download if you are intending to send them as emails or upload them onto a website...

Thanks for the links - I just found out that the high-end CyberShot I am craving is only $995 direct from Sony - which ain't cheap, but isn't that much more than the Mavica I was thinking I would settle for. Just woke up, haven't compared prices yet, but since you've been comparing prices already, are these list prices? <edit>Never mind, I just checked against the amazon.com site - the FD73 is listed on amazon.com for $599, discounted to $429. It's listed on the vaiodirect site at $499.
