Mike do you have an opinion about Phelps Dodge (PD)-
I think its a good value right now at less than 44$. The company is one of the biggest in copper mining (Wordwide #2, I believe) has a reasonable solid balance sheet and is focused on shareholder value. I think its a better buy than the gold mining companies right now.

To All, I was brilliant at The Belmont today. O.K., I was totally lucky and was almost very lucky. I bet a trifecta and an exacta with my Mother paying for half the ticket. I had my horses picked out and she said, "if you don't put Pat Day in the ticket, I won't bet with you." I don't like her to bet on her own, as she doesn't have that much free cash with her monthly bill for anti-rejection drugs, so I grumbled and put Commendable on the ticket. I got the exacta and nearly got the trifecta. I missed third place because I had Unshaded in the first and second slots and substituted Wheelaway in the third slot. Big mistake. But, I almost blew it all by not having a favorite jockey. <g>

It is still better to be lucky than to be good.
