OT> Those that have ever visited Northeast Ohio will not soon forget the sights. Covered bridges, horse drawn buggies, quaint town squares, beautiful farm lands, etc. Yesterday. . . after celebrating my mom's birthday at a favorite Beechwood deli called Corky & Lenny's. . . We then took a very neat drive through Amish country. . . showing kids how these "plain folk" live. . . nothing fancy here. . .it isn't permitted. This fairly large population of followers may have had it right all along. . . they work hard with their hands. . .have limited needs or wants, get fully paid houses from in-laws when they are married. . . get the whole town to build them a large barn, nearly free. . .have few expenses and not much mental stress. . . .all for the purpose of being able to worship God with a minimum of distractions. Whether you agree with or even tolerate their lifestyle, you've got to hand them some credit for their devotion. . .in the face of ridicule. We really enjoyed Mesopotamia, home of the "End of the Commons" General Store. . . endofthecommons.com [obviously not Amish owned] Way cool. . . [the stainless steel knives are a bargain. . .http://www.endofthecommons.com/html/radaknives.html the French Chef's knive is a steal IMO at just $11.99. . . . and the very soft homemade salt water taffy is incredible. . . molasses was our favorite. . though watermelon flavored is also good. . .take VERY tiny bites. . .] The wedding we discreetly watched from a distance was the highlight of our day.
