joan its up here too. people are grumbling , particularly those with big suv's

i remember going to an aussie rules football game here years ago, a drunkard in the stands started shouting 'absolutely nothing for sale, two bucks'

it was a spoof on all the crap being sold, programs, t-shirts, pennants, etc.

later, more drunk he shouts, 'absolutely nothing for sale, two fifty, gone up'

by the end it was 'absolutely nothing for sale, three bucks, gone up again'

i guess you had to be there <ggg>

from Steve Saville's weekly update on gold-eagle :
In our May 29 Weekly Update we mentioned that "gold's risk/reward ratio is now as good as it gets". ***However, it is now probably even better*** because we have since been provided with further technical evidence that the Dollar has peaked and the gold price has bottomed, but very few market participants seem to have acted on this evidence. Any weakness in the early part of the coming week could be used to add to holdings in profitable, lightly-hedged gold producers.

Joan, my bet is that your area is suffering the "oxygenated gas" scam that was put into place nationwide on June 1. Here's the schedule:

- gas prices go up dramatically, everywhere, for no reason whatsoever

- consumer groups start complaining

- TV starts making a lot of noise

- state Attorney General says this is terrible, big investigation, harrumph, harrumph

- big oil says it's just supply and demand, normal market fluctuations, plant conversion to the new fuel, blah blah

- hearings make the papers for like three days

- nothing comes of it

Sorry. We go through this in California every two years or so.
