I was thinking "aluminum ladder" myself. They should be illegal in Rain Country.

The gutters - plastic or copper? Would it make a difference? I'd think so. Rainwater is really a piss-poor conductor. Way worse than piss.

GFCI is a Good Thing. At the very least, it saves the fuses. Which are somewhere out in the rain anyway.

I've seen guys do that to check if a line is hot. There's a trick to it and I don't even want to know it.
