Ken IMHO just forget about those numbers. Most hedge funds are on mechanical dynamic adjusted position with computer controlled sell/buy orders on an array of stocks usually in the hundreds of issues.

You can observe that action mostly on Level II based on the quotes of market makers who in some instances have an endless Bid or Ask of 100 shares which are nothing more than dynamic computerized portfolio balancing.
