I did not see the interview, although I received an email from a fellow investor who thought it was unimpressive. This link shows today's action:

siliconinvestor.com

Definite decline after 12pm. Anyone selling based on an interview on CNBC really only created a buying opportunity in my opinion.

Betty,

If Bill G. has ideas like that, can you image what the average person knows about Flash? ZIP!

I think "ZIP!" is correct. SanDisk is in dire need of marketing. Cisco, Sun and Oracle "enable" the Internet (at least in their ads), why can't SanDisk "enable" digital photography, MP3 players, etc. Eli is a great ambassador for SanDisk, but he can only be in so many places at one time. It's a great message, but nobody hears it if nobody says it.

SanDisk should implement a co-op advertising program where they share the cost of ads (generally limited to 2% to 5% of sales), if their logo appears in the ad. They should start a modest but long term advertising program to educate the consumer. They should establish their space, so that when a consumer hears the words flash memory, they think SanDisk. At the end of the day, flash is a consumer product, and consumer products are all about brand equity.
