Dan,
Bush did grant the stay, at least, some time before the execution was set. What really bothered me about that deal was that some Senator who was acting Governor claimed to have been the one to grant the stay. He could not have done that unless Bush told him to. If one wants to be against the death penalty, so be it, but IMO most of those people on death row deserve to die for the vicious nature in which they committed the crimes. There is this big flap about, I think his name is Graham, that has Hollywood stars, and all sorts of people, saying he was not fairly convicted. Maybe there were flaws in this particular case, but the man is known as a felon and murderer, several times over, but has slipped through the system on the other charges. The preponderance of the evidence on his "life of crime" makes him a candidate for death row in my mind.
