I was talking about hanging not "f"'s. The people who administer justice in this country have about the same competency level as the people working in the DMV- (and THEY screw up a lot) plus prosecutors are under enormous pressure to win win win, even at the expense of the truth truth truth- so in that sense they are even worse than the DMV. The DMV has no motive to screw with you- they just do it incidentally, prosecutors do it on purpose. I do not want the DMV deciding MY life or death- and I don't want the US justice system doing it either.

I used to be for the death penalty. I no longer am. Life imprisonment is good enough. The state makes errors in everything it does- at least if the people are incarcerated the state can eventually set them free. If they are dead, they can't be raised from the dead.

If the system were perfect, not biased for color, and affluence, and a myriad of other things, and if mistakes were never made I might feel differently. But that is not our system, now could it or would it ever be.
