You were the one who brought up Z80 programming - have you done any Z80 work more recently than 20 years ago? As far as the mean standard of programming, if anything it has gone down as the tools available have allowed programmers to specialize with no real understanding of the underlying architecture. and re: keep your daytime job. pretty much retired thanks - but raising three teenagers has given me some experience in dealing with people who use ad hominem rather than replying to the substance of a question.
