For posterity...

Sold off tekgirl's CTXS holding at 24 this morning; 40% loss in ~7 months. Split the proceeds into three parts. Put 1/3 into CREE at 146; 1/3 into ELON at 63; and 1/3 into SNDK at 66. Apart from her index funds (about 40%), her holding were, in order, QCOM, JDSU, GMST, CSCO, NOK, SEBL, ITXC, NTAP, CREE.

She has a perfect LTB&H attitude (apart from the occasional snide comment); we'll see how the move looks down the road...

Appolo

Thanks for that snippet, those are some very strong numbers.
I will definately keep the velometer out inorder to pick up any increase in wind speed.
One Question I have in the back of my mind is, doesn't INTEL
make flash meemory. I hate to have them as a competitor.

Hello Apollo,

Flash Memory Tornado---The flash memory market is now predicted to grow 116% in year 2000 says Semiconductor Industry Association.

INTC, AMD, SNDK and SSTI.

Dan Niles of Lehman Brothers reports on the recent Semiconductor Industry Association meeting: "The SIA is now expecting that the market for flash will grow 116% to 9.9B in 2000. This is up dramatically from the 36% growth and $5.5B market opportunity predicted in October. We note that Intel and AMD are No. 1 and No. 2 in worldwide flash memory market share respectively. We believe that flash currently represents about 30% of revenues for AMD and is in the high single digit percentages for Intel." (Sorry I don't have a link; this is from a PFD file on the Fidelity site.)

As you know, Niles has a strong buy on INTC and SNDK. I bought a small starter kit in SNDK last month for a flash pure play investment and I am excited about their prospects. I was thinking of adding to SNDK last week but then started researching SSTI (Silicon Valley Storage Technology) and ended up putting the rest of my flash pure play investment money in a starter kit in SSTI. So now I have a mini flash memory basket sitting right in the center of a tornado.

SNDK concentrates in the data storage segment of flash memory whereas SSTI concentrates in the code storage segment, so they are not direct competitors. A data storage device is used to store large amounts of data such as music and pictures whereas a code storage device is primarily used to store the program code that runs the device. My understanding is that applications for code storage devices far outnumber applications for data storage devices and that SSTI is positioning itself to dominate the code storage market. I am still in the early stages of DD, but it really looks like SSTI is firing on all cylinders and for anyone interested in taking a basket approach to this industry wide tornado, I recommend taking a good, hard look at SSTI.

Best, Huey@nevermetacompanyhedidn'tlike.
