extrapolate from an old hip bone our history.
People found old bones for thousands of years and didn't really know what to make of it. It's only after finding hundreds of bones, noting their placement, checking against plant and mineral remains, and noticing that they all point to the same explanation does a theory become stable. Contrast that to the immaculate conception where we have 1 story and no evidence. There is more support for unicorns.

One reason I so enjoyed Wisdom of Bones is that it is written for laymen (laypeople, for all you PCers) and explains just how they DO extrapolate our history from an old hipbone. It offers a great deal more to debate and consider than the Immaculate Conception. BUt then, I believe we were all Immaculately Conceived.
